Back in my ancient history I had many hobbies such as model building and leather craft.  Here are some photos of some of those items that I made back then.

LEATHER CRAFT

I started doing leather craft back in 1981 when I sobered up.  I needed something to do with all that “spare time” I had now and leather craft seemed to be something interesting.  I did not take enough photos of everything that I made but there are some in a box of pictures someplace.  When I find them, I’ll scan them and post them here.

This is a leather clock I made in 1983.  The actual pattern was based on a design from a 1800’s rocking chair with a leather insert.

This is a silhouette type piece of a lion.  It is based on a pattern from a “Make it With Leather” magazine.  I did this piece in 1983.

MILITARY MODELS

Back in the early to late 60’s I had build models of cars, boats and military models.  I tried to build some dioramas at the time but my model building skills were not up to the task.  In 1987 and 1988, I wanted to do some model building again.  I did one car but I would rather build military models and make them as realistic as possible.  It turned out that some of the models that I wanted to build were simply not available.  I wanted to build models of Vietnam era artillery pieces but the models were simply not available.  There were a lot of tanks and other stuff and I did build a few of them, but I really wanted to build a model of the artillery piece that I was on in Vietnam.  These are the only models that I have that survived to this day.

This is an American WWII artillery piece.  I’m not sure which one it is.  I liked the model because it came as a kind of diorama.

This is an American WWII scout vehicle.

This is a British WWII Artillery piece and ammunition carrier.

This is an American WWII Sherman tank model.  It is actually the first tank model I ever build.
