In an effort to safe some space on the server, which I am paying for, I decided to post only the nicer and more interesting pieces.  I have been doing a lot of just plain boxes and so forth that I will not post.

Project 0310

Small Spice Box

 

This small spice box is made from a scrap walnut foot and finial and a piece of scrap spalted maple body.  Carnauba wax finish.

Embellished Lidded Vessel

 

This vessel or urn is made from curly maple and African black wood with black leather lacing.  I made a flange around the vessel for the leather lacing.  The lacing style is called Mexican Basket Weave.

Pedestal Box

 

This pedestal box is made from a pine knot from Florida and a walnut foot and lid with finial.  There is a crack horizontally from bottom to top.  The finish is lacquer and buffed carnauba wax.  The box is 5 5/8” high and 2 5/8” in diameter.

Embellished Box

 

This is another embellished box using a wood inlay technique.  It is made from Virginia black walnut with an oak inlay and a maple finial.  This box is 4 ¾” high and 2 ½” in diameter.  The finish is gloss lacquer.

Embellished Box

This box is embellished using a wood inlay technique.  It is made from Virginia black walnut with a maple inlay and finial.  The box is 4 ½” high and 2 ¼” in diameter.  The finish is gloss lacquer.
