Below are some lidded boxes that I have made.

Some older photos have been removed.

Claro Walnut Burl Box

This box was made from a piece of Claro Walnut that I had laying around.  It was very odd shaped and I was not too sure what I could do with it.  There was a bark inclusion in the wood but I picked out the bark leaving an interesting “blemish”.  The finish is lacquer.  I did not realize how beautiful the Claro Walnut burl was going to look until after I got the finish on it.  These are only two photos showing this piece.

Honduran Rosewood Box

This box was made from a piece of Honduran Rosewood.  The finish is lacquer.

Cherry Box with Burl Insert

I made this box from a piece of really dry cherry.  At first I was just going to make a plain straight walled box but I just couldn’t leave it at that.  I have some elm burl so I cut a hunk sorta round and turned it to a reasonable diameter.  I cut a mortise in the lid and inserted the burl insert and trimmed everything up.  The finish is carnauba wax.

Norfolk Island Pine Lidded Vessel

This vessel turned out a little better because most of the knots were lined up a little better then the one above.  When I turned it, the colors were an off white and icky gray until I put the lacquer sealer on.  The finish is lacquer sealer and carnauba wax.
