Turned wooden bowls are exciting to make.  When the bowl is turned from wet wood that has recently been cut, then there is a tremendous amount of long, spirally shavings.  When I turn a bowl from wet wood, I have quite a mess in my shop but it gives me the satisfaction that I have accomplished something.  The problem with wet wood is that it will “move” or warp in only a week or so.  The way to work around this is to rough turn the bowl to about 90% of the final dimensions and then let it dry out over about a 6 month period.  On the other hand, dry wood can be turned to final dimensions right away.  The bowls you see below are only a small fraction of the bowls that will be available in the near future.

This is a small cedar bowl that I made from some “hurricane wood”.  It is made cross grain which created some beautiful grain patterns.

This is a small Walnut bowl that I turned at a Woodwork Show in Kissimmee Florida in mid March.  I left the knot in the wood blank to add character to the edge of the bowl.

My first bowl.  This was a collaborative effort of myself and Mike Mogalevsky of the Space Coast Wood Turners club.
