I think one of the things that a lot of Woodturners like to make is goblets or wooden glasses or cups.  These can be rather easy to make and allow the focus to be more on the wood rather than the design of the piece.  Here are a few of the goblets I have made.

Bunch of small camphor goblets

Camphor is fun to turn and turning goblets in camphor is a lot of fun.  It takes only about 20 to 30 minutes to make one of these and you can show off by making the cups and stems real thin.

Miniature Goblet

I had seen some miniature turnings before and thought that I would like to try my hand at them.  I had a piece of satine from Amazon Exotic Hardwoods in Casselberry Florida (www.amazonexotichardwoods.com or (407)339-9590 (866)339-9596) and figured it would work just fine.  The wood is hard enough and has an interesting fine grain for such a small turning.  That’s a dime next to the goblet.

Miniature Goblet

I kind of like making miniature things so I thought I’d try my hand at another miniature goblet.  This one is made from walnut and finished with carnauba wax.  I thought I’d try to make the stem as long as I could but I got a little nervous and quit while I was ahead.

Small Burl Goblet

This small goblet was made from scrap satine wood that our woodturning club gets from Amazon Exotic Hardwoods in Casselberry Florida (www.amazonexotichardwoods.com or (407)339-9590 (866)339-9596).
